My mom and I took a few days and adventured over to Chicago before I headed back to Florida. It was so nice to spend some time with my mom and to also be back in one of my favorite cities. The last time I was here was in March with my sisters, and we did so much. (You can read about our sister trip here.) But this time around, it was so nice to have time to relax and not have a schedule.. or a bucket-list to complete. Just some much needed mama time!
Where we stayed.
My mom and I checked in to the beautiful Warwick Allerton Chicago Hotel, which was such a treat! Upon arrival, we were upgraded to the Superior Suite on the 24th floor, which had incredible views of the city. This hotel has gorgeous historical architecture that dates back to the 1920s mixed with modern amenities and rooms. We were in walking distance to all of the restaurants, bars, and shopping which was ideal. (Zara across the street!) The hotel is known for the Tip Tap Top Lounge, which has since converted into a ballroom overlooking the city. Our stay couldn’t have been better. We were so comfortable in our big king size bed, and had so much room with the suite living room. We felt like queens! I highly recommend this hotel for your next Chicago trip.
Where we ate.
So many friends recommended Restoration Hardware’s cafe, 3 Art’s Club Cafe, so I figured I needed to see if it lived up to the hype! We walked in and wow.. everything is so chic. Of course besides the dreamy upscale home furniture, the cafe itself is designed so well. For my FL peeps, it has an Oxford Exchange vibe. We went for brunch but I would also go back for maybe a happy hour drink, since it stays open late. While we waited, we ordered a glass of wine and sat on big comfy couches, and explored. There are five levels of categorized home furnititure, textiles and home goods. We spent some time after lunch and walked through each one, saying which we liked, which we didn’t, naming my future children in the baby section.. ha! It was so fun. It’s on my list of places to go back to.
Shop summer rompers.
Where we drank.
Out of all recommendations, one I’ve heard over and over is Cindy’s Rooftop. My mom and I went to check it out for an after dinner drink. Craft cocktails and pretty views of the city is exactly what you can expect. I ordered a mojito just because all of the drinks looked so fresh. (which, by the way, was so dang good!) It was night time, so we couldn’t see the lake or the park, but the city was completely lit up. We sat at the bar for a while and walked out to the patio, which they had closed, but peeked through the windows. It was definitely worth the walk over.
After three weeks in Wisconsin and three days in Chicago, I’m happy to be home in Florida. I had an awesome trip with family and am so glad my mom and I were able to spend time together my last couple of days.
It was definitely a trip for the books.. and a summer memory I’ll remember forever.
*Thank you to Warwick Allerton Chicago for an incredible stay.*
